In twelve holy nights, the golden-faced God was born - the young Sun - Dazhbog, the silvery Yasn-Moon and the holy Goddess-Mother of Water Dana, which means that everything lives on earth. "The God Kolyada comes into the world with light and good, defeating evil and darkness. In the Christmas of the sun, Kolyada is a festival of the light of Dazhbog, a great festival of Life, a festival of Ancestors, a festival of Happiness and Freedom. Everything on earth: man, all plant and animal life they honor the god Kolyada, the guardian of the young Bozhich-Sun, meeting the birth of the light of Dazhbozhie with the Holy Supper, Holy Thoughts and the Holy Unity of Souls.

После этого разыгрывались драмы. Отец брал кутью – символ почитания предков, предков. И с кутью он мог пойти сначала к скоту, прогностическая функция – чтобы был здоровый скот, на будущий урожай. Затем выходил во двор, в некоторых регионах он набирал кутью в рот, а в некоторых – с ложкой углу выходил во двор и звал Мороза. Но, не “дедушку Мороза”, этого советского, а Мороза – как стихию, которая имеет абсолютно отрицательную коннотацию: “Мороз, Мороз иди ко мне кутью есть, а, если не идешь сейчас, то не иди никогда: ни на рожь, ни ни на пшеницу, ни на богатую пашницу”. То есть такое противодействие, чтобы этот Мороз не заморозил ничего. А дети в это время, будто пугались Мороза, прятались где-то под столом, и вообще, когда они прятались под столом, они должны были "бекать" и "мекать" - имитировать тот скот, который должен водиться в следующем году.

Subsequently, with the introduction of the Christian religion as a state religion in Russia (the so-called "baptism of Russia"), the rite of caroling was adapted to the celebration of Christmas. Priests and monks created new religious carols with biblical images, which also gained great popularity among the people. Prominent composers undertook the processing and restoration of carols: Mykola Lysenko, Stanislav Lyudkevich, and others. In carols, according to tradition, all members of the family were honored: the master, the mistress, the boyfriend, the girlfriend. The caroling was combined with a corresponding theatrical performance, dances, and music. They caroled in groups, having previously distributed responsibilities: chieftain "birch", "star", "mihonosha" and "ryajeni". Metropolitan Vasyl Lypkivskyi described Christmas carols as follows in his Christmas sermon "The Meaning of Christmas Carols":
